Zipoute Snorkel Set

We recently embarked on a cruise through the eastern Caribbean. Several years ago, I had gone on a snorkeling excursion on my one and only prior cruise and I recall that it had taken a few different masks to find the ideal fit. This time around, I decided to purchase my own mask. After careful research, I purchased the Zipoute Snorkel Set. This was a very intentional purchase, with the mindset of future use, and making certain that when we were ready for our snorkeling adventures my mask would fit perfectly. Plus the cost of the purchase is nearly equivalent to the rental price.

When I began my research, I was looking for a traditional snorkel set. There has been a recent proliferation of full-face masks and masks with a breathing tube built-in, such as the Bairuifu Dry Top Foldable Snorkel Mask, which Stella had purchased. No matter the snorkel set that you settle upon, I highly recommend trying it on and dipping your face into a full bathtub or swimming pool to get the ideal fit to ensure that it doesn’t leak and that it will be comfortable for you. It is better to do this ahead of time than to be sorry during your trip.

FIT: As mentioned, try fitting your mask prior to your travels. I did need to readjust shortly after entering the water as I experienced a bit of leaking. After refitting the mask, the leaks subsided. For men, it is important to mention that if you have hair on your upper lip, that could prevent you from getting a really tight seal on the mask under your nose.

VISION: The Zipoute Snorkel mask provides a 180-degree field of view. It mentions that it has anti-fog lenses; however, the reality is all masks will fog to a degree. There are many solutions that abound, but the simplest is to clean your mask prior to snorkeling or simply dip it in the water prior to putting it on. I did not experience any major fogging issues with the mask.

BREATHING: The snorkel itself has a dry float valve to prevent water from entering the tube. This is different from the traditional snorkel tube. The idea of the float valve is to prevent water from entering the tube when you are below the surface of the water. It worked as intended, but no matter the tube type, your first order of business when back on the surface of the water is to exhale to clear the tube.

COMPACT: The mask comes with a small mesh carrying bag. The snorkel tube can be detached from the mask when not in use.
