4th of July in Montana

Montana

Over 4th of July weekend, we ventured to Montana. We had high expectations for paddling many miles on three different bodies of water. Like all of our previous trips this summer, the weather did not cooperate with our aspirations. However, in light of the horrific flood that had recently occurred in Texas, we cannot complain. Our hearts are with those who were impacted by the unexpected weather event.

During our Great Montana Adventure, we had a fabulous time! For this trip, we had wanted to paddle (kayak and/or stand-up paddleboard) on Swan Lake, Seeley Lake and Placid Lake. Due to the weather, we only made it to Seeley Lake, where we paddled about 5 miles before getting sprinkled on. Seeley Lake is located in the town of Seeley Lake, about 90 miles south of Kalispell.

We paddled southeast from Big Larch Campground. This side of the lake is jam-packed with various types of homes. The homes along the western shoreline are more spread out. We had really wanted to make it fully around the lake. In any event, we enjoyed the little time that we had on the water.
