Lake Wenatchee, Washington

We recently camped for a weekend in Leavenworth, Washington, where we stayed at Icicle RV Resort campground, located about 30 minutes from Lake Wenatchee State Park. Last winter, we had high hopes of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Lake Wenatchee State Park; however, it had rained during our weekend there. For this summer camping trip, we had plans of kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding on this beautiful lake, but the wind was so extreme and unrelenting that it was impossible to get out on the water.

We even made a second trip out to the lake, with a small hope that the winds had died down enough to go paddling. Nope – the wind was even stronger! Not wanting to make the trip a total waste of time, we jumped on our bikes and took a quick tour of the campground before heading back to the campground in Leavenworth.

We have now made two attempts to enjoy this beautiful park, in the winter and summer, but have been thwarted both times by Mother Nature. Thus, we do not have any adventures to report in this post. And the irony of it all is that we finally have our new truck fully set up with the A.R.E CX Evolve topper and rack system to haul our gear! Stay tuned for our next adventure to Montana, where we hope to have better luck with the weather!

  1. Beautiful location, but a bummer you didn’t get to enjoy the lake. So glad you got your topper. It looks awesome !!!
