Big things are in store for Base Camp @ Grand Lake this year! After extensive discussion and research, we decided to purchase a 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX 2108DS travel trailer. There are many reasons why we decided upon this particular RV, but most importantly, it will allow us to utilize it year-round, anywhere.
We do plan to keep it in Grand Lake again this summer, but we will be taking it with us when we travel, and we have some exciting trips planned with it thus far. And since we can use it in the winter, we are already thinking about our upcoming winter trips. We can already attest to the phenomenal insulation of this unit.
June 10 – 12: Steamboat Springs, CO. We are staying at the KOA, situated on the Yampa River, which should provide us with some awesome fishing. Then we plan to bike the Yampa River Core Trail, which is 15 mile (round trip) paved path that runs along the river and through the town. And, we hope to kayak on 3 lakes in the area: Pearl Lake, Steamboat Lake and Stagecoach Reservoir.
July 24 – 27: Challis & Stanley, ID. We will be spending a few days with my (Stella’s) parents in Challis, as well biking and kayaking at Redfish Lake in Stanley, a short drive from Challis.
July 28 – Aug 5: Canada, Sandpoint (& surrounding towns) & Coeur d’Alene, ID. We will be staying at Beyond Hope Resort in Hope, Idaho for the entire duration of this trip, which is just outside of Sandpoint. It is within a short driving distance to all of these different locations where we will be kayaking, biking, hiking and stand up paddleboarding like crazy! We are especially excited for this trip because we will also be scouting for a new place to settle down, as Larry and I potentially plan to relocate to either Idaho or Montana in the near future. We just need to determine the exact place.
September 23-25: Leadville, CO. We will be staying at Silver Dollar Campground where we plan to hike, kayak and fish around Turquoise Lake.
