POTW: Fall in Rocky Mountain National Park

A bull moose courting a cow…

Though not technically quite fall yet in Rocky Mountain National Park that doesn’t mean that love isn’t in the air. We were driving in the RMNP last weekend and came upon a bull moose courting a cow, the peak of the moose rut is usually late September to early October. They were back along the tree line not paying any attention to the 50 or so people gawking at them as they were moving about. The bull moose and the cow were collared so the park can monitor their movements throughout the park during the year. With that being said, I am curious if this it the same large moose we saw atop Milner Pass two years ago, he appears to be a very mature moose. There is nothing better than fall in Rocky Mountain National Park.
