Some of you may be wondering why BaseCamp@GrandLake has not posted anything for winter adventures, especially considering the abundance of snow. Normally, we travel extensively in the winter but this season has been quite different. We have only taken one winter trip thus far, to Jackson Hole the week prior to Christmas, and it ended on a rather sour note, for me (Stella) in particular. We kept saying that we needed to get the post written for that trip, but it just never got done.
After the Jackson trip, a cascade of other events have transpired, ranging from other tasks that needed to be done to Larry needing two root canals and the side of his face swelling up like a golf ball. Plus, we are not in the mood this season to deal with the “mountain traffic.” We are sick of it. We will do a few scattered day trips over the next few weeks, but we don’t plan on writing posts for those.
Another reason why we are not doing much traveling this winter is because there has been a significant change with my job that has impacted my overall quality of life. I am trying my best to adjust, mentally and physically, but I am doing very poorly. This change has completely disrupted my winter training/conditioning plan, which was evident while snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Jackson. Long story.
Lastly, we don’t want to spend the money traveling this season because we are saving for something very special. Big changes are coming for BaseCamp@Grand Lake. Stay posted, as we will be making the announcement very soon.
Love you guys !!! Sorry to hear about Larry’s dental issues too. Things will get better !!!
